For the NASCAR fans

Dale Jr will leave DEI at the end of this season. What do you think, good or bad for Junior? Where will he end up? Good or bad for DEI? Personally, I think good for Junior and bad for DEI. Junior can write his own check, DEI has already fallen a long way over the last few years, and losing NASCAR's most popular driver will probably hurt them. I think Junior will end up at Childress, possibly in the 3 car.

2. I'd like to see him with
Hendrick too, but that probably won't happen as Hendrick already has four drivers that they probably won't cut. They're not giving up Gordon, Johnson, or Busch, and I think they will give Mears a few more seasons to turn things around. It looks like Gibbs or Childress for Junior...

8. Too much ego at Hendrick
As much as Hendrick needs a personality infusion, Jeff and Jimmie would not be able to deal with the sport's most popular driver in their midst.

3. Good move for Junior.....

tactical error on the part of Theresa Earnhardt.

I don't think Junior will go to Hendrick. Gibbs is a possibility but I think that it will be Childress in the 3 car. Harvick is actively trying to recruit Junior for Childress. Budweiser is following Junior wherever he goes I think Joe Gibbs might have a problem with that.

Junior is sensitive to his fans and he knows the fans don't really want to see him with johnson and gordon as his teammates plus Hendrick is full up. It would be unlike Hendrick to cut Mears loose.

What most of his fans want is to see him drive the number 3 car. As Darryl Waltrip put it....that would make the driving world right.

4. I think your answer is exactly right.

Although, I'm a Junior fan that wouldn't mind seeing him with Johnson and Gordon as teammates. But there are very few of us. And Hendrick doesn't have an open spot. Again, I think he will end up with Childress.

5. DEI is toast
Theresa wouldn't let Junior have half an interest in the company so now she'll have a team with no Junior, no Truex and no sponsors. This will lead to a merger with Robert Yates racing and a switch to Ford. Either way you look at it she still will have to get at least 2 drivers and 2 sponsors to replace Budweiser and Bass Pro Shops. The pool of available drivers is pretty thin right now and they don't have anybody in the Busch series that can move up.

6. He did have that little "test-drive" with Hendrick a few weeks ago,
after Kyle Busch threw that hissy-fit and disappeared after the car went behind the wall! I know Gordon wasn't happy about that, but I knew that Jr. had some kind of method to his madness - certainly there wsa speculation given his unhappiness at DEI. He's absolutely the most popular guy out there so the fans will love him wherever he goes, so it's basically up to him to find the situation where he'll be the happiest.

7. I'm really surprised Dale Jr and Teresa "split" ... didn't Dale Sr.
make his wishes for the company known before his death? What did his will say about the future of the company? I just thought there would have been a better plan for what would happen when he died (being that his is a dangerous profession and all) ... and some kind of legally binding plan or agreement.

It's a shame all the way around that this happened, I think.
