I'm addicted to the show "How Clean Is Your House"
Edited on Thu May-10-07 10:25 PM by LibraLiz1973
Anyone else here share my addiction?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_Clean_is_Your_House%3F

I watch it daily on BBC America- I've only caught the US shows (on lifetime) a few times.
They have such awesome tips for natural cleaning

1. Oh my gosh!! No one??
You MUST watch it!! It has literally changed my life. I used to let my house get badly out of control. After watching the show for a while I slowly started cleaning up and I'm now at the point where people could drop by at any time and the house would be clean.

You should see some of the filthy homes they have cleaned. And I mean filthy- not your average messy or even dirty.

2. I've only seen bits and pieces here and there...
But if it's going to give me the motivation I need to keep my house clean, I need to start TiVo'ing it immediately.

It has TOTALLY changed the way I look at house work!!
Looking at what other people were living in made me realize I have a really nice
house and I need to take care of it

3. I've seen it a few times.
I usually can't find it, though, or it's on when I'm watching something else.

5. I clean houses for a living
but I wouldn't even think about cleaning any of the places I've seen on that show! It's a very unhealthy way to live. Even with a haz-mat suit on, I wouldn't go in some of the bathrooms I've seen. Ick!!!

:)

7. The bathrooms and the kitchens are normally the worst
It is UNREAL what happens in some of those houses!

Last nights episode had a 27 year old guy who used his DIRTY (and worn more than once) socks as DISHRAGS!! That was how he cleaned his socks.

I just about barfed

9. Yeah, some of them I would have RUN from
There was a woman with SEVEN birds who did not cage them so they flew around shitting all over the place- on the furniture, tvs, curtains, floors... you name it

The worst part? When they went back 2 weeks later she was still letting the birds do it.

I enjoy watching them because they are so funny, plus they have good tips about cleaners. Stuff you can make yourself that dosen't cost a lot of money.

edit: Oh yeah, the bird lady.... :puke: :wow: Although, I think the father and son pub owners were my second fav.

25. Watch out for those cleaning tips
Some are okay, but they do stuff like clean a bathtub with a grapefruit. Not only does this not work very well, even on TV, but grapefruit is EXPENSIVE. Just buy some scrubbing bubbles already.

13. it's a great show
I see it on one of the Lifetime cable network channels, on Sunday nights (I usually find it when I'm finished watching Iron Chef).

I'll never forget the young woman who couldn't be bothered to scoop the litterbox, and then wondered why 1) there were little cat turds all over her house and 2) wondered why her cat kept throwing up.

19. The worst is when there are children in the house with all that shit.
The one family had a baby who was about to be crawling (they also had 2 older children, toddlers) and there was cat & dog shit ALL OVER the house.
The woman said the animals had just never learned to go outside or in a litterbox.

:barf:

14. My husband and I watch it almost every night
Even my 4 year old likes to watch it for the ick factor. She will come in from playing on her beloved swing set to watch 'the clean ladies' as she calls them. I am constantly amazed at the state some of the houses they go into are in. I did say to my husband the other night that I know they go back in 2 weeks to see what has happened and usually the places aren't too bad. I'd love for them to go back a year later to see what things are like - some of the horders' places might be interesting again, not to mention the horse people who washed the stirrup irons in the dish washer.

20. We are on the same wave length! I SO want them to go back
6 months to a year later and check.

And the horse people with the fece covered stirrups in the dishwasher made me almost vomit!!!!

23. It's on
BBC American every night at 7:30pm. That's the original British one. Though, reading this thread, I gather there's one with American dirtlovers on the Lifetime channel. :-)

22. I love that show.
The best cleaning tip I've learned is to heat a bowl of water in the microwave with a lemon in it. Then you just wipe it down with a cloth. I love when the lazy way to do chores works the best.
