Question for Lost fans and typography nerds
Does anyone know the typeface used for the title sequence on Lost? It is similar to Century Gothic, but it's not quite the same.

(Also the opening credits that are shown.)

Thanks to anyone who can help.

1. Can't come up with a name
But I'd check the "retro" typography categories. The full bowls and relatively short crossbars are reminiscent of the '30s and '40s.

2. For something as important as that, I suspect it's custom
or at least an altered version of a common font.

Extreme kerning difference between the O and the S compared to the L - O and S - T is rather odd.

Maybe I can start a rumor about the secret to the show being in the LO and ST

3. I'm starting to think it might be Futura or a derivate thereof.

4. Kubrick's favorite font
nerdy enough?

www.myfonts.com will let you type out LOST in any of the fonts they have for sale so you can see the results

Futura looks like a solid guess, but the S is just a tiny bit too curvy

5. Wes Anderson uses it a lot too, haha.
I'll figure this out, dammit.

6. Futura's bowls aren't that round, are they?
I'm going from memory. We used Futura for heds on my college paper — almost 30 years ago.

8. I'm not sure, I might take some screen caps of the opening credits and compare in Photoshop later.
