Poll question: Do you care what other people think about you?
I have noticed that sometimes people are so worried about what other people will think or say about them that it literally keeps them from doing what they want to do or even standing up to defend themselves or an idea.

Are you one of those people who govern your behavior based on what other people will think?

If so, why?

I have a very strong personality and I have had many folks try to temper it by telling me..."watch yourself...people will talk about you"...or "men don't like such opinionated women"...or the most famous..."don't you care what people think about you?"

I personally don't give a poop what people think about me. I have my opinions and my passions and while I am vocal about them, I do my best not to be rude to people and try my best to do right by others...so if people don't like me...well I just don't care...

1. Depends on whom it is.
Family? Yeah, I modify my behavior. The guy in the supermarket? Nah.

:hi: I used to care a lot, but I've learned over the years that the only person I have to please is myself. :) I know not everyone likes me, and that's OK.

Edited to add: My mother thinks I should be a Republican and dress like a frump. :P That's never gonna happen. I'll be damned if either of those will ever happen, and I'm not going to do that just to please her.

5. Nope
People are going to think what they want. No need to get worked up over what people think.

7. Depends.....
Do I care if everyone knows I am poor... No..

Have I done embarrassing things I would like to keep secret... Yes.. (sorry about the futon Jessie)

I had to deal with this at a young age. Long story short.. My mom killed my dad when I was ten. When I was 17 I finally found a group of friends and a girlfriend. I fought to keep the mom kills dad thing secret. Well, one day there was an article in the local paper about my mom. She was getting out of jail. I was at my girlfriends house and found a newspaper on the dining room table. I could tell that the article was being highlighted by the way it was folded. At that point I knew my secret was out. I was devastated.

Well, luckily I had money from SSI at the time and I dropped out of school and left town for a few months. I didn't tell anyone, I just left. I ended up eating out of dumpsters. But, I eventually made my way back home. I got a tremendous amount of shit for just leaving. But, after a bunch of long talks with friends and family and girlfriend. Things got back to normal.

Now I don't give a shit... I will try to hide it if I piss on your couch or futon. Later
