American Idol, once again proves, that America can't recognize talent
SPOILER ALERT

Damn. I'm not that into her genre of music, but I recognize a supremely talented musicion when I hear one. Blake should have been gone.

1. You didn't need American Idol to prove that, did you?
1) Look at a weekend box office report some time.

2) Look at the albums that top Billboard's charts.

3) The existence of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour.

And much, much, more.

2. Its about taste really. They are all talented at this point, and Blake

is more appealing to today's teens. He is much more contemporary. And Jordin is just as talented as Melinda is. I knew Blake would make it! And he is talented. His voice isn't as good as Melinda's but he has a different appeal.

3. I agree!
But he's a white boy so there. Dolittle is excellent!!! EXCELLENT! I sure hope the records companies line up for her, she has a great voice.

6. Him being a white boy has nothing to do with it. He brought something
different to the table.

9. Yes, that's what I heard only I don't like what's on the table.
So, I went to a pot luck at work where the usual dishes of jello molds, fried chicken, and cole slaw were served. Here comes that new employee with a differant dish....krugel! It was gone in a flash.

4. I agree Mindy doo was my fave--but there were always high expectations for her compared to the

other singers. Even when she was better than most anybody else it got to be (with the judges) "yeah that was great, but couldn't you give it a little more"...meanwhile if most of the others got thru there song without incident it was "That was your best performance ever!" The two best were Mindy and LaKisha and they are both gone. But I'll bet that they will have good careers without being the "American Idol".

p.s.
that said I like both Blake and Jordin and think both have talent. But I also think they probably represent the pre-teen and teenage voters of AI more than Melinda did. Who will win of these two? I'm not sure, it kind of depends on how they do next week, but I give a slight edge to Jordin.

5. I didn't follow it closely
But, from what I've seen and heard, Melinda is head and shoulders above ANYBODY that has ever been on that show. She is Gladys Knight and a young Tina Turner rolled into one. That's probably what the kids just don't get, she has a very mature, sultry, old school soul sound like I haven't heard in ages and her vocal range is astonishing.

I just hope that whoever produces her recognizes that and doesn't try to make her into a modern pop singer.

10. Kelly is my other fave
She has matured nicely too, I heard her in a show the other day and was impressed with her development since she won. She was pretty dam good when she won, but now, wow!

8. While I think Melinda is a great singer,
I think that Blake is potentially the one with the most to offer to the music world. His interpretations and arrangements of some songs, most notably Bon Jovi, were, in my opinion, quite good.

He has an uncanny ability of making older songs into contemporary-feeling ones. That is a skill that requires raw talent.
