1. Because everyone lacks vision and sucks.
I hear that the ringer Melinda Doolittle got voted off of "Idol," though.

6. Because it's incredibly monotonous and over-produced
Melodically it's a series of slow-moving nursery rhymes, only layered with eighty guitars and some really tinny, bored-sounding singing. MBV's abysmal cover of Wire's "Map Ref" shows how crap that style can be even with something that doesn't suck melodically to begin with.

It's good, but not worth raving about in my view.

:D

Some of the guitar noises are neat.

I don't see what that has to do with anything. :P

34. I never liked him.
He once kicked a hole in the styrofoam beer cooler in our dressing room, spilling it's contents everywhere.

I never forgave him for that.

Plus it was Joey Ramone--that kick probably had half a joule behind it for fuck's sake. Time to bury the hatchet.

I think on Rate Your Music (though many of the site's rankings are biased by obsessive fans) it's rated #1 for '91.

19. They'll get no argument from me.
I love it. I remember spending time in a studio around 92-93 trying to replicate that guitar sound. We were doing things like using a whammy bar to bend up to a chord and then punching in, in the middle of the bend. And then doing that about 10 times in a song, and on 4 or 5 guitar tracks.

Great fun.

23. It's just such a chore to listen to the same gimmick for 44 minutes
I was convinced it was just an album that grows on you, but after listening to it a few dozen times over several years I'm sure I just don't like it, and won't. Except for the throwaway crappiness of "Touched," you have the same wall-o-guit and anemic, minimal melodies throughout. Laughing Stock from the same year kicks the crap out of it, in my view.

38. Greatest album of the 90s (I was just listening to it)
and I still listen to it at least once a month.

This record was my Fall 1991 soundtrack when I lived in London. I also caught MBV at First Ave, on the Loveless tour in the spring of 1992 when I was back in the states. It was one of the best and loudest shows I've ever seen-- even louder than Sonic Youth.

Never mind the haters, Loveless rocks

/ get off my lawn ya damn kids
