Olive Garden is giving away a trip to Italy!
Enjoy an 8-day guided trip for two to Rome, Florence and Olive Garden's Culinary Institute of Tuscany

Wow, I didn't know they had a cooking school!

Plus they are giving away $100 Olive Garden gift cards to 100 people!

1. It would be more appropriate if they gave a trip to Epcot Italy.
A fake trip to Italy given by a fake Italian restauraunt chain.

18. Me!
Stationed in Italy for 2 years, and Olive Garden is an American imitation of Italian food. Calling Olive Garden Italian food is like calling Taco Bell Mexican food.

21. Taco Bell is Mexican food.
If you took a nationwide survey of which restaurant has the best tacos, Taco Bell would win hands down.

22. There's a lot more to Mexican food than tacos.
Even though I like the breadsticks and pizza from Olive Garden, it's not real Italian food. Italian bread is harder than a rock, and the pizza is thinner than anything that comes from a chain restaurant.

24. Sure, but if you took a survey of what Mexican food people are familiar with...
...you would probably see tacos, burritos, and nachos at the top of the list, all of which are available at Taco Bell.

25. What we were discussing is if Taco Bell is considered to be
real Mexican food or not; not what types of Mexican food people are familiar with.

I also don't agree with the idea that Taco Bell is real Mexican food. Earlier tonight I conducted a poll on this site, and 80% of the responses were either "no" or "hell no".

7. I still miss their cannoli
The folks at Olive Garden told me that they'd probably have to remove cannoli from the menu because so few people ordered it - OG patrons wanted desserts that were much sweeter, and the complex flavors of the cannoli just didn't cut it with them. What a shame.

was a clever trick to make people think it was Italian food.

Only the big winner can verify its existance.

14. They send all of their chefs to Italy...
They also send their managers there, too, to train. When I worked there, our manager had just got back from there. That place really does exist.

23. They donated a very nice catered lunch to the Relay for Life last weekend.
It was the American Cancer Society-sponsored event here. I was just three days off chemo so I didn't have any appetite, but I ate half of a breadstick. The other cancer survivors seemed to enjoy it and I thought it was very nice of them. I'd never eaten there.
