American Idol winner an anti-choice activist
"Photos of Jordin at anti-abortion events and stories about her activism have been on line for months, but only reaching mainstream attention now that she has the best chance of taking the American Idol title.

The stir that's brewing is similar to last year's storm over contestant Mandisa and her connection to the "ex-gay" movement. And with some expressing concern that Jordin will use her American Idol platform to preach against abortion, this sort of fight is one that will bring out votes on both sides."

Well, I know who's music I won't be listening to...

2. As if we needed another reason that Melinda Doolittle should have been the winner.
This season of "American Idol" has been a complete bust, in my opnion.

4. Best paragraph in that article:
Though she's only seventeen and probably won't have to think seriously about the issue until she goes on the Idol tour and finds out she's been knocked up by Sanjaya, Jordan is well-known in her home state of Arizona and among the Christian crowd as a "pro-life"-- or anti-abortion-- crusader.

5. My first thought reading that was
she doesn't really have much to worry about from Sanjaya.

20. Season 2 of "Idol," in 2003, was joyous. Since then it has devolved into garbage TV.
They only had one really great season, the one with Clay Aiken, Ruben Studdard, Trenyce and Kimberly Locke. That season had a fun, happy, freewheeling atmosphere. Since then it's been a steady decline and this season that just completed is dramatic evidence that the show, though still popular, is slowly dying.

7. Just one more reason to dislike the show
How any woman can be anti-choice is beyond comprehension.

8. Amazing how I missed the obvious; looks like she was a ringer from the start...
We told you about the initial controversy over Jordin's entry into this season's contest (aided by Idol sponsor Coca Cola), and suspicion that her victory has been in the cards all along. Now, photos showing Jordin with Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson, supposedly taken three years ago, have led speculation that the judges may have pretended not to know her when she auditioned-- and that she's indeed been groomed for Idoldom in some secret lab.

Whoa boy. Never mind Coca-Cola's history on human rights is claimed to be bad...

Cancel the show NOW if all that from the first paragraph is true. The anti-abortion spin is one thing, but this lying and cheating and feigning they never knew the lady is not; it's the antithesis of what the show was said to be about, and in which case even Sanjaya probably should have won instead. His singing clearly personifies AI far more than the usual gaggle of sound-alike boring people they usually pick for the top 12.

22. That's not the way I understand it...
Coke sponsored an Arizona Idol competition on a local TV news program there and the winner automatically won the chance to perform before Paula and Randy. She won the Arizona Idol competition.

14. Melinda Doolittle. That's who should have won.
Jordan wasn't even close in terms of talent or anything else. The teenyboppers "elected" her Idol this year, not me. I wouldn't buy her album just because I am so pissed about the Melinda Doolittle thing. This is just reason #2.

16. Seems like all the Idol "winners" are these right-wing shills.
Clay Aiken inserted some anti-choice messages in some of his limp listless songs.

I think the whole thing is a sham, myself. Sponsored by the right-wing moonbats.

31. Really?
Clay's a liberal Democrat. In fact, all of the white Southern boys who made it to the top 2 are liberals. Two - Clay and Bo Bice - are churchgoing types too. Not sure about Taylor Hicks or Justin Guarini though.

At that age, I held a whole lot of misguided views. I was actually kinda conservative (non-religious though) until I got into the real world and realized things aren't as easy as I thought they were. She still has time.

23. I'm glad you said that
if we were all held up because of the misguided actions we took or the opinions and beliefs we had as inexperienced, sheltered teens, I'll bet all of us could be ridiculed. Give the kid a break and let her grow up. If she's still going to anti-abortion rallys 10 years from now, then you can complain. Until then, peace! :hippie:
