I once took a big ol' snake away from some boys on the playground who were trying to scare me with it. That one's a beauty.

the only reason I don't keep them as pets is because I would get attached to the food. But I love holding them, it is really a unique energy they have. One (a black snake) dropped out of a tree rigth at my feet the other day, it must have been three or four feet long. I thought it was a tree branch but it started moving. I consider it a positive sign. :)

23. I am one of those strange women who likes reptiles |
|
I used to catch snakes and take them to "show and tell" when I was in elementary school.
Now, at 55, I have a garden snake in my back yard I run into every year. I catch him and admire the little fellow for awhile and then release him back into my yard.
Now in the wild, when I run across one, I am cautious of course as I am not as familiar with the snakes in Carolina as I was in Va.
It is huge honking spiders and cockroaches that freak me out!

I like snakes, as long as I can positively identify them as non-venomous. Fortunately, there don't seem to be any poisonous ones here in western WA.

My sister and I used to freak the boys out letting them wrap around our arms. They'd take off running. Sis wore ribbon snakes at college and disturbed some who got close enough to realize she was NOT wearing beaded bracelets.
If it has a triangular head, back away slowly...

:hi: My mother nearly fainted when I asked her if I could have a king snake as a pet when I was 8 years old. :) I actually love snakes and other reptiles.
I also used to pick up earthworms and play with them. :)

For some reason snakes scare the shit out of me. When I was a kid my asshole younger brother took a rubber snake, tied a string on it and pulled over my body in bed. Freaked me right out! Little Shit!

29. I have a cooler with a string attached to a rubber snake's head |
|
when you open the lid, this realistic looking snake uncoils and comes up out of the cooler. It scares the FUCK out of people. I used to keep it at the cabin buy my Grandfather played the joke on an old woman and she FREAKED out and was reduced to tears. So the snake in the cooler isn't welcome up there anymore. I still have it,just waiting for the right opportunity to use it again. You have to be careful who you play the joke on.

Seeing snakes or pictures of snakes, I always get a shiver up my spine. :scared: But I've never been in a snake-related situation where I felt afraid, or wanted to run away or something.
Cautious and wary, since I really don't know enough about them to recognize venomous v non-venomous types.

32. Yes, it might have something to do with my mother being afraid of them |
|
As was my sister to the extent that she would wake us up terrified that there was a snake under or in her bed (there never was). I am not as afraid of snakes as some people, but I will not handle snakes nor will I watch "Snakes on a Plane" because of my fear.

I have garter snakes in the garden and they are the cutest little things with their "racing stripes". I let them be so they can have run of the yard.
