Has anyone ever sold something through Paypal for a large amount of money?

My husband is selling a car online.

This guy says he really wants it, but it'll take him a week or two to get up here to pick it up. But he wants to pay for it right away on Paypal so it doesn't get sold to anyone else.

So he wants to pay $4800 on Paypal today.

My husband says he's never sold something for that amount of money going through Paypal. If the guy doesn't come for a week or two to pick it up, it would be out of Paypal and in our bank account by that point.

Does this sound safe to you? Is there any way he could get scammed in this deal?
