I figured out how to deal with bullies... act INSANE.... serious
I was at a pub last night... drunk as shit, and in a surly mood. So, I'm on the juke box (A nice surprise, cause they're rare here) and I was leafing through it. Then, some fucking tattoed steriod monkey walks by and bumps into me. I thought nothing of it, cause, shit happens. But then he says, "Watch it."
One thing I hate is the feeling of knuckling under. And, I was hammered. So I say, "I'm sitting, you're walking. You watch it." Then he comes back to me and says, "what was that?"
I was nervous. But, again, I don't like giving these guys a victory. So, I figured... rather quickly.... that if shit went down I could at least hit him with the barstool or something until the bouncers got in. So, I decided not to give the ass a victory. And I say to him, without looking at him, and just staring at the jukebox like nothing was happening (Cause I was shitting my pants), "Get outta here man or I'm gonna fucking kill you."

And the dude stood there for a second, then walked away. I was astonished!

3. Sure, that works for you.
I probably would've given him a funny look, then ran the other way if he turned around.

8. That would've been funny.
And really, do you think even a steroid-addled freak can deliver a beating to someone that just made him laugh?

I think not.

9. Your "pregnant" hormones are acting up.
Here's a story about bullying and a story on The Today Show from yesterday about a SF bay area girl who went through hell. Granted, these are about middle school kids and parents, but what the HEY?!

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19071988/

In a historical context, when white people would travel through hostile Indian country on the wagon trains some would act crazy and insane because some tribes wouldn't bother or scalp the crazy ones. I sometimes wonder though if this was really true.

10. You could also get on your knees, look up at him, smile and

start singing, "Hit me with your best shot..." It worked for me once, years ago.

11. Start talking to people that aren't there. Have entire conversations/arguments.
I employed that tactic on the el when I used to have to take it from a bad neighborhood late at night after class. People left your shit alone.

12. If you had shit in your pants I bet he'd have left you alone too.
Funny how that goes--nobody seems to mess with you if you are wearing shitty underwear. I dunno why that is...

15. Don't laugh but I had a personal defense class one time where they discussed this.
Literally, they talked about a woman who was grabbed and she crapped her pants to avoid being raped. I have to admit, it makes sense to me.

I'd probably haul off and kick the snot out of anybody that grabs me, but I am not every woman. My attitude is just a bit more combative than some, I guess. I was AMAZED in that defense class by the number of women that said they could, "...NEVER hit anybody." I was wondering at the time, WTF are YOU doing here????? I'll grant you, a lot of personal defense is AVOIDING the situation, but sometimes it isn't something you are abe to avoid.

It wasn't until I took a few martial arts classes a couple of years later that I realized just how much women are not taught on the subject of fighting, however. I hope to hell I never need to raise my hand against anyone, but I sure as heck am mentally prepared to do so if need arises.

A couple of weeks ago we were under some very real stress in my office (we had deputies stationed here to protect us for a few days) and one of my office mates decided it was a good day to jump out and scare me. I literally stopped myself at the last second from coming up with a block and punch. I don't go to dojo any more, but some responses never die, I guess.

Stay safe if you can!!!

17. I once decked a guy who grabbed my arm at the mall
turns out he was just trying to get my attention and sell me a cell phone.

But sometimes military training just overrides your brain. Somebody comes up behind you and grabs your arm, the elbow just wants to turn and jab at nose height.

14. Even most bullies don't really crave having to fight.
That's one of the better kept secrets - they'd rather you just cave in because you're afraid of them. In reality, chances are that they'll just bark at you while slowly walking away.

I had one guy try tell me he was going to kick my ass in a bar once. I stood up and said, "I'm right here. Go ahead and throw a punch and we'll see what happens." Needless to say, he didn't bother.

Of course, I'm 6'2"-280, and more solid than fat, so I'm sure that put a bit of a crimp in his plans as well. He'd probably have to knock me out with the first punch to survive that fight.

16. Basic rule of thumb if you are ever in a fight you can not avoid under
Edited on Thu Jun-07-07 03:17 PM by Javaman
any circumstances. Hit first, because you may never ever get another chance, and hit like you want to kill, because the human body can take a lot of punishment and if you go to hit someone as if you are just wanting to hurt them, more than likely you won't. However, if you aim your shot about 2 inches into the face you are guaranteed to make an impression.

the second thing is, then run like hell.

3rd, nurse your broken hand.

Been there done that, have the broken bones and hand scars to prove it. :(

19. That is how I was taught
to stand up to bullies and attackers.
Hit first and hit to kill or maim.

I was the victim of bullies growing up.Nothing stopped it till I put two in the hospital.
I have never been bullied again.
And as for anyone attacking me for other reasons I look at it as a case of them or me.Someone is fixin to get hurt and it damn sure ain't gonna be me.

I would much rather wear a cast on my hand than be laid up in a hospital.
