Wanna get the wits scared out of you? Movie recommendation.
Final Destination 2.

Oh. My. God. I am not a fan of horror films, or slasher films, but my wife wanted me to rent this after having seen the harrowing preview featuring the massive car pile-up.

I thought this thing might be a good way to kill an hour or two, but eeeech, it fraked me out.

Yes, this is a horror flick, and as such, there is little character development, and the acting isn't quite top-drawer (although it's not really bad for this genre), but the setup of each scene in this film is incredible, and the audience is kept on pins and needles from beginning to end.

The holdover from the previous film, Ali Larter as Clear, is very attractive and a capable actress. I wouldn't be surprised to see more of her in the future.

My only misgiving about this film is the gore. It is one of the goriest films I've seen, to the point that I had my hands ready to cover my eyes through most of the film. It's actually rather cruel. and I didn't really care for the smart-assed ending. I've heard this film described as funny, but it was just scary to me. You'll definitely think twice before getting on the freeway after seeing this thing. I swear I thought I was going to have seizures after seeing this film. I really don't know how teenagers can handle regular doses of these horror films.

Anyway, if you like being scared, this is the flick for you, just be ready to cover your eyes when the inevitable comes!

3. This movie ws surprisingly good
I didn't like the first one but "2" was very well done. After a while, the gore becomes surreal, like a Wile E. Coyote cartoon or a German forklift safety film ;). You just sit back and let the laws of physics play out.

4. Oh, man, after seeing it once in preview (the 2-minute version)
I couldn't even bear to watch again as a preview, and always covered my eyes or left the theater for the couple minutes of it. Terrified the hell out of me, almost gave me palpitations, bringing back memories of my own car accidents, including being hit my a semi. Even that short scene in Hooper where he drives his cycle under the semi freaks me out.

But looking at the preview, seemed that Final Destination 2 would be much more about the death and destruction than the actual story, though with a truly delicious amount of build-up, which is nice to hear you say it has, since tension and buildup are the real points of terror. Just ask Hitchcock!

One thing I love about "The Fog" so much is that the real terror of it is the *extended* length of the buildups, and the false buildups. One never knows what or when will happen.

7. Carpenter is a genius
Plain and simple. The Fog is truly suspenseful, up there and beyond the suspense of a hitchock film, I think, and I think the world of Hitchcock.

8. I thought the original was okay...
even though it was your typical teen horror flick along the same lines as "Scream" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer."

Still I did find it surprisingly enjoyable and will be sure to rent the 2nd one on DVD.

9. I hated Final Destination 2... but, I have some other spooky choices
you can read my exhaustive review of FD2 at http://www.horrorview.com/FINALDESTINATION2SHAME.htm

As for films that offer some really good spooky potential check out:

The Hypontist (freaked even me out... and almost nothing freaks me out)
Uzumaki (although it's weirder than it is scary)
May

10. still having nightmares about the first one
seriously - the airplane explosion, viewed from the inside, was too hardcore for me. i was flipping through channels and came across it by accident, which is probably why it freaked me out so badly. (i've watched worse stiff with a clinical eye)

i think it's because i have and will continue to travel via plane, but i'm not as likely to take a midnight stroll in the woods with one of my fellow camp counselors, lol

thanks for the warning, i will stay FAR AWAY from this one...

12. One of the most chilling films...
I've ever seen was "A Cold Nights Death". Low on gore, but high on the thrills. It's very old, but the ending scene STILL gives me goosebumps.

It's something to see, really.
