...cost me 20 bucks.
That oughtta show me to bet against Pitt's favorite team.
Unless they're the Sox. Only safe bet is against the Sox.

Other than Law, they're no more impressive-looking on D than half the teams in the league. They just somehow get it done.
Oh, well. Congratulations, Will.

Congrats, Will, your team played superbly yesterday, especially on defense. I'm a pissed-off Eagles fan, and the difference was like night and day. Your guys got it done at home, and we didn't. BTW, my dad thinks the Pats will blow out the Panthers in the Super Bowl. (Of course, he thought the Colts had a good chance to beat New England, so he's not the best prognosticator. Neither am I, for that matter.) Good luck!

This Super Bowl is eerily reminiscent of the '01 game. Powerhouse v. Cinderella. We all know how that turned out.

Damn Colts.
And do you want to hear a "Rub salt into an open wound story?"
No? Too damn bad. Here goes anyway.
So, I return to the house at about 2:45 p.m. local time, just in time to watch the game in the comfort of my recliner, just as many middle age men were doing at the same time. Turn on the TV, and the satellite dish receiver. Still tuned to the Cartoon Network from that morning. Watched about 2 minutes of Jimmy Neutron. Went into the kitchen to unpack the groceries, grab a soft drink, and settle down in front of the TV and fireplace, and watch the game. Looked at the TV - one bright, thin line in the middle of the tube. Thought to myself, "Gee, that's weird. Must be a weird cartoon thing." Switched the channel to the game and - one bright, thin line in the middle of the tube, with the voice of Deion Sanders coming through the speaker. Friggin TV quits 10 minutes before the game.
Shoulda looked at it as an omen, and just switched it to the Discovery channel. So, I had to go upstairs and watch the game on the little TV, sound way down low, so I wouldn't wake my napping toddler in the next room.
Feh. Bah. Harumph.

24. Hey! Remember that song? |
|
When the lame-ass Pats tried to come up with their own answer to the (already lame-ass enough) "Super Bowl Shuffle" -- they came up with an unbelievably lame-ass piece of crap called "New England, the Patriots, and We."
The only thing more lame-ass than that song was their performance in the Super Bowl.

The Pats are turning into an LSU alumni society. Kevin Faulk, Jarvis Green, T. Kinchen, and Rohan Davey are all on that team. I have to pull for a team that has that many former LSU players.

|
Edited on Mon Jan-19-04 05:34 PM by LynneSin
and no, I'm not referring to the Philadelphia Phillies (who last won in 1983). I know, I lived in Pennsylvania/Delaware all of my life, but ironically I've been a Cincinnati Reds fan for probably longer than I want to confess to (only because it'll make me really old in age).
BTW, that was 1990 for the Reds.
Good luck to the Patriots
On edit note: That would also include my parents generation and even my grandparents generation for that World Series.
<sigh - it's still not making me get over yesterday's loss, but I'm trying.>

You must be floating. :-)
Did you get to watch any of the game? I yelled at the tv on your behalf just in case didn't you didn't get to. It was really fun, especially at the end when Indy decided to wake up and try to make it interesting. I agree with your mom...I hope somebody smacked Tom Brady upside the head a couple of times today for that last drive. Oh well, it made it exciting anyway. :-)
