I didn't think that he'd stay out of it, though. When it's what you do, it's what you do. I think (and this is just me and my suppositions) that what happened is that he's not writing under contract any more. He doesn't have to put out x books within a certain time. He writes what he writes when he feels like writing it, not because he's got a deadline.
But that's just a guess.

thought it was one of his better novels, along with Bag of Bones, but I still like his short stories the best. I wasn't too crazy about Hearts in Atlantis and I thought Gerald's Game was horrible...loved the Dark Tower series, especially the ending.
