Doh! Stupid wine....

So, the girl I'm seeing, who rocks hard. Invited me over tonight and made me a kick ass dinner. After we were sitting there all cuddled up, and I was three glasses of hooch in and I didn't even think about what I was saying. I asked, "Do you have any baggage?"
Now, all of this is related to the last girlfriend. And it's something I'm wary of. She was kind of taken aback by it. But, handled it well, she said, "Without hearing anything about you, why did you ask me that."
All I said was, "I've just dated some girls with issues before and am a bit on edge about it." Then called myself stupid and apoligized for being a twerp. She seemed cool with it and the evening went on okay enough.

I think perhaps that if you like this girl, you should consider the fact that you have your own; otherwise you wouldn't have asked her the question. Maybe she needs to know that some baggage, you can carry. Just a thought, if not for this girl then for the next.

Make sure you put the discussion back on her. Deflect.

You seem to have done well, but make sure that you remain a bit aloof and a bit "in charge".

This is hard to do, but if you don't, you'll be out the door before you can scoop up the wine you brought over.
