One of my Friends told me that the reason NASCAR is so popular now...
Is because they have invented all these feuds, like Big Time Rasslin'...

So they have all this back drama to keep the kiddies interested...

They do all sorts of macho posturing and so it gets the boy childs all reved up, so to speak...

I have no idea if this is true or not because I have never watched NASCAR except by accident once, I was so drunk...

Can someone enlighten me...

1. They'd almost have to, wouldn't they?
Otherwise, it's just cars going endlessly going around and around and around.......

Boooooring, IMHO...

:spank:

I keed, I keed!

I'm a NASCAR fan; have been for years, and believe me, it's much more than going around and around and around..... But yeah, not everyone likes it. For me, booooooooring is golf. Good thing to watch if I have insomnia!

16. You don't watch drag racing for the RACING...
You watch it for two reasons: huge flames shooting out the headers, and the opportunity to listen to John Force winners' circle interviews.

2. I think your friend is wrong. There are rivalries, of course, but
they aren't manufactured. I've watched NASCAR for years, and used to watch my parents and my uncles race. Sometimes drivers get really into competition with each other.

7. I had Friends the did the oval cars and the dragsters....
We had a lot of fun with that...

9. It's not for everyone, regardless of the type of racing, any more than
any other sport is for everyone.

4. the only thing I know about it
is that apparently Jeff Gordon really is a not so nice person, I know two people that deal with him occasionally in their jobs and they say he isn't personable to peons.

6. All I can say is if all I did was drive around and around and hoped
I didn't get in an accident and get killed, I might be a little iratable as well...

Still, if you don't like being in the public eye and can't appreciate your fans, then don't go onto professional race car driving.....

11. Not to mention the endless circle of billboards on the track,
whose broadcasts are regularly interrupted by more commercials....

12. When I used to get in or run a race pool
Betting on it was the only thing that made it interesting. We once had a small dirt track here in town and it was fun and inexpensive to go watch the local drivers race when the weather wasn't too hot.

Most Earnhart fans, the former Sr. and now Jr. are hard to deal with in this area. Whenever he cheats it's, "hey...that's just racing" but if he gets bumped or loses period it's because "everybody else cheated".
