Has a co-worker ever just flat-out told you what they think of you in no uncertain terms? |
|
With no regard to the possible consequences? I used to work with an adorable older lady who was a very dear friend of mine, though we fussed a bit at times over how best to get things done. One day she stood up, in front of several of our co-workers, and announced to the world calmly but clearly:
"You're an apprentice asshole. With some training, you could become a real asshole." The verdict delivered, she sat down. Everyone else just died laughing. I stood there, trying to think of a snazzy comeback, but I had been owned, and I knew it. You can't just dish on cute little old ladies, not unless they have nasty reputations. I had to shut up and take it, lol.

4. That's the kind of day you wish you could leave |

We broke off diplomatic relations for the rest of the day, and ignored eachother. We had to discuss reparations the next morning and get back to work. There was too much work to do to stay mad.

2. What refreshing honesty! |
|
Mine are just passive-aggressive gossips. I wish they'd "say it" to my face.

3. I've found that some older people tend to be quite brutally honest |
|
Not all of them, by any means, but a number of them have reached that magical point in life beyond which they simply refuse to take anybody's shit, and they'll let you know it quite plain. It certainly is 'refreshing.' 'Bracing' might be a better word. There's nothing quite like a Wilford Brimley lookalike getting ready to give you the bum rush.

5. No, but there are many times when I wish I could say that to MY coworkers |
|
who are genuine assholes. I have this one who is probably the biggest asshole I have ever met. He does whatever the hell he wants all the time and nothing EVER gets done about it, even though he is constantly on my boss' shitlist too. When I finally leave this job I am going to tell them all to go to fuck themselves, I swear. I have such seething anger inside of me because of these people I just can't take much more.

I've never had that kind of thing addressed to me, but if ever I do by some adorable older woman, I will bow in her direction, and declare her the Queen!

8. I once made up a song to describe my ex-supervisor: He's an Asswipe |
|
Done punk-rock style. I sang it around the courthouse too. Most people laughed cause he was. He got pissed and complained to my then-supervisor, who asked me to refrain from singing it. I mumbled a few words about First Amendment rights but then stopped. My point was made.
