*sigh* The days when the PC industry actually had competition... |
|
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7ZA4gNtqnkThe Atari 800 was technically superior, the others all off-the-shelf parts lumped together, but the C64 sold on the built-in quantity of RAM alone...

1. Bushnell really fucked the world. The ST's were hella better than the Macs and Commodores, too |
|
but he just didn't push it well enough, and didn't do enough to make Atari a true world leader in computing.
Imagine, if he hadn't fucked up, we might not have a Microsoft.
What was the ST equivalent made by Commodore? I can't think of the name.
So close to a world of even more amazing computing, but no, we let the world go to IBM-with-Microsoft and Apple.

4. The Commodore Amiga. It blew EVERYONE out of the water... |
|
But, as with any computer with good graphics and sound, oh that's just a gamez machine or a toy. :eyes:
Did you know the guy who worked on the 8-bit Atari line also developed the phenomenal Amiga? Jay Miner was his name...

it out from under them. It was being developed as the Amigha Lorraine/Atari Mickey (Atari 1850XLD)(Mickey was a code name, departing from Atari's usual practice of using Atari's female employees... like the 2600 was Stella, the 400 and 800 were Colleen and Candy, etc. This one was actually related to Disney)

2. I finally (reluctantly) disposed of my last 8-bit Atari last year - I'll probably |
|
be buying another some day. Still have a couple of STs and TTs though.

3. Kewl. I liked the TT series... |

I still have my two 500s, but sold my A3000 a long time ago.
Still have the emulator and some of the software I'd bought over time...
