What should I do?

Yesterday when I was at the hairdresser, shortly before I left, I saw this post on the window. Someone is looking desperately for a new home for two 9 year old male cats. They are house cats, never been outside. There were stripes with the phone number on it and none of it were taken yet (which means either nobody cared at the hair shop or the post was fairly new).

Now. I really want cats again, but in August I will be gone for 3 weeks. I am gone over the weekends often. I don't know if it is fair to get cats again when I am gone two days in a row. Then again, there are two of them who can keep each other company.

What should I do? Should I go back and get the phone number and call that person? Or should I stay away from it?

1. Call and let them know you are the last resort.

If they can find someone better to take the cats have them do that. If they can't find someone before they need to get rid of them have them give you a call. I would take them in before they go to a shelter.

I would ask if it is possible to take them only in September.

7. That's a tough

choice. I dearly miss my cat. As a matter of fact just the other night I had such a vivid dream about her I woke up sad.

But although I miss her, I'm not ready to get another one. My lifestyle is so crazy, I do find it kinda liberating not having to always ask friends to take care of my cat when I'm gone.

That all said, I avoid kitties altogether, b/c I know I'd be weak and take one home with me.

8. It is really tough for me

I have this big urge to have a cat again. But like you, I am glad that I can go whereever, whenever I want without worrying about a cat. That has kept me away from cats so far. But the urge to have a furbaby waiting for you at home and cuddling with him/her is getting bigger and bigger. I really have to restrain myself some days.
I called the hair dresser and got the phone numbers. But I don't know if I will call. OK. I lied. I already called the home phone number but nobody picked up. I also have the cell phone number.

Btw, have you seen BNL's thread about Maya. You ought to look at the thread. You will need an insulin infusion.

9. Sometimes when

I come home, I still half expect my cat to greet me, and it's been six months. But like you, I like my freedom and I have to keep repeating that mantra.

doesn't she has the cutest little pink nose? I try to get my daily dose of kittens at www.dailykitten.com. That helps me a lot. If I can't have a cat at home, at least I can look at pics. Or I visit a friend and adopt a kitten she has to take care of :rofl:

you know you want to. It's hard to place adult cats. You would be doing them (the cats) a good turn. Poor kitties.
