reminds me of that TV preacher back in the 80's who said God would "call him back" unless he raised a certain amount of money.

2. I'm amazed that no pregnant women have tried this before. |
|
I wouldn't send the woman a cent. I can't imagine that a woman who would pull a stunt like this would be all that good of a mother.

but I still think it's disgusting. There are other ways to torture the extreme pro-lifers then like this.

4. My girlfriend thought so, too. |

This actually strikes me as something someone would be enough of an asshole to do for real, though, so I'll assume it's legit until shown otherwise. I would not be surprised at all to learn that you're right, although if you are and that woman has collected so much as a penny, she's probably got some serious jail time coming to her in the future.

6. Other possibility: she may really be pregnant but with NO intention whatsoever to have an abortion. |
|
Then it's still a scam, but unprovable in a court of law. She may very well say in the end, "oh, we only collected $1,500 but I'm having my baby." Then what?

7. Good point. I took the word "scam" to mean a hoax, kind of like a Snopes thing. |
|
The way you lay it out, you're right - unprovable. I should have thought of that.

5. The link doesn't work, but I have this to say.... |
|
Cost of web site and URL: $100
Cost of preventing one abortion: $50,000
Making the "pro-life" hypocrites squirm: PRICELESS!!!!!

12. She'd probably raise the money faster if she said |
|
"If I raise $50,000, I WILL get an abortion. Otherwise, I'll bring a child into my sick, sad little world. I've already got a cage in the basement ready to keep it in."
It'd make ME want to donate more, anyway.
