Blinded by the Light - Manfred Mann
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0J-GGDZ4Wk

Madman drummers bummers, Indians in the summer with a teenage diplomat
In the dumps with the mumps as the adolescent pumps his way into his hat
With a boulder on my shoulder, feelin' kinda older,
I tripped the merry-go-round
With this very unpleasin', sneezin' and wheezin,

1. As a point of trivia, I grew up thinking that song had the word
"douche" in it.

11. Seconded.
I even wondered why they didn't censor it on the radio.

13. I think that's actually what is being said
in the Manfred Mann version. IIRC, there was a story about the singer trying to decipher the correct lyrics by listening to Springsteen's original version, and translating "revved up like a deuce" as "wrapped up like a douche", and those were the lyrics used when the band recorded their version. I wonder if it will always hold the distinction of being the only #1 single with the word "douche" in it? haha

3. Written by Bruuuuuuce.
It's on Bruce's first album, The Wild, The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle.

However, Manfred Mann's version is much peppier and sounds like a different song. That version was the big hit when I was in Court Reporting school in college (am I old or what?).

The line is "Wrapped up like a deuce, you know they roll her in the night."

Whatever that means.

7. I think it's "Revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night"
A deuce being a type of car I believe.
