1. Survival
I won't go into all the gory details, but it's a miracle I lived to be this old and I'm proud of that.

3. my kids
It's really hard for me to be proud of myself for much, but I think I've done a pretty good job loving my kids. They seem happy and for that I'm proud.

4. I help people.
I hate saying this because it sounds like bragging, but coincidentally I need to feel good about myself at the moment.

I have saved lives and prevented suffering, human and animal. I advocate for the helpless, again, human and animal.

Just to be honest, as I get older I feel more and more drawn to help animals and less to help people. Except the homeless, poor and mentally ill: not their fault.

35. That I try not to talk about the things I'm proudest of, I guess
I hope this doesn't sound like pompous bragging (it probably does), but for certain specific reasons I won't go into a lot of people are always telling me how proud I should be of myself. Personally, I don't like that. I have things to be proud of, but I try not to think of them. Rather, I just try to do the best I can to satisfy myself and those closest to me. Whenever people tell me how unique I supposedly am I change the subject.

43. My book!
I have dug up branches of the family that no one else ever knew about and traced them back to their common source.

It took a lot of detective work and stick-to-it-iveness, but I've gotten really far, and met lots of wonderful third (and fourth) cousins from it.
