Lounge Movie Game: Guess the Film from the Scene Description
A man goes alone to dine at a restaurant. When he announces he is a party of only one, the waiter makes a HUGE production of whisking away all the other place settings at his table with a big flourish. As the man begins to eat, a spotlight is shone on him, eating alone.

221. Yes it was, and that's why you hear English, Spanish and Russian all the way through
either on the soundtrack or in the subtitles. It wan't shown in the U.S. until 30 years after it was made. Martin Scorcese and Francis Coppola helped to get it released and promoted it in the mid-1990s.

it's hard to believe people in America are that poor and that shit on.

But then the company in Harlin county was one of the ones that turned out the lights here in California: Duke Energy. So they promoted themselves from just screwing the working class to screwing EVERYBODY.

145. I think the only person in Hollywood even aware of Bresson...
is director and screenwriter Paul Schrader. His book "Ozu, Bresson, Dreyer: Transcendental Style In Film" is very good. You can also see Bresson's influence in so much of Schrader's own work. And, of course, Schrader's work is also very good.

His lack of subtlety was arguably one of his greatest strengths. And damn, could he ever set a scene. The Leone/Morricone team-up is in my mind the finest director/composer matchup in film history.

my favorite moment from that film.
And I wont name it either. It's too easy for me.

That and when Tom Hanks, in Saving Private Ryan, is giving a long hard look at a remf's sandwich are my favorite food scenes in cinema history. So far.

Either the world is an absurdist comedy, or it's not. There's really not much difference between "Cabin Boy" and "Waiting for Godot," or "Hamlet" for that matter.

Have you ever read/seen the ending for "Hamlet?"
