Wii Fit features over 40 activities, including hula-hoop, push-ups, yoga, and step aerobics!

Wii Fit, unveiled at Nintendo's E3 briefing on Wednesday, is one of the most popular games among attendees here at E3. I finally managed to give it a workout and the verdict: what a (cardio) blast!

22. You have go to be kidding? LOL
It's great to play, but as a dedicated gamer I know what it can be like to have to get up to play and drop the bag of chips, hot pocket, pizza, and can of beer just to have fun it's hard to do, but you can do it it took me a while but I found the inner strength. =)

17. As a gamer and a designer, I love the Wii.
Getting people physically involved in the games, beyond just tapping buttons, was a brilliant idea. Healthy, too!

I also like the direction that Wii games have (mostly) taken so far: entertaining, and largely positive. We have enough gore 'n guns elsewhere right now. Wii seems to be focused on fun, which is great. I really enjoy Zelda.

why would someone just not want to do the real thing? Why would you game aerobics when all you need is a f***ing step?

26. Well, not to give too simple an answer, but ...
Edited on Sun Jul-15-07 09:10 AM by Akoto
I'd say many folks prefer to use the console because it's just more fun. You can play it alone or with friends, and some people even get to simulate activities that otherwise aren't available to them due to a busy schedule or their location. They also don't have to feel so guilty about gaming for a while, because they're not on their butts and vegetating while they do it.

I don't have any incentive for claiming that (I participate in independent game design), it's just my honest opinion of the Wii.

28. Well, I also do the real thing. It's not like people should play the Wii instead of exercising.
But if you can be social, play a fun game, *and* get some exercise too, why not?

Are you suggesting that if friends invited you over for a game night, whether it's cards, Scrabble, or video games, you'd refuse on the grounds that it's not enough exercise? I should hope not.

32. What don't you understand? I was responding to your question.
You seemed to be implying that people who own the Wii use it in place of aerobic exercise (or "the real thing" as you said). I'm saying that I work out, but *in addition* I enjoy the fact that I get some health benefit from playing a game.

33. I actually read a great story recently
about senior citizens in nursing homes using the Wii for fun and exercise. It was really sweet, like the older gentleman who thought he's never golf again. Nintendo donated the systems. :)

29. Yeah, I actually got a little tendonitis in my wrist when we first got our console.
I was playing tennis as if I really was trying to hit the ball, hard. I guess I was really flicking my wrist when I did it. Oops. :)

Not a good idea for a graphic designer. Work was hell for a couple of days.
