Got back to Dallas last night and found myself banned at DU!

I tried to log on and got a message saying, essentially, that I had been banned because of rules infractions. I emailed the admins., wondering what on earth I had done Monday (I left NC early Tuesday for the two day drive to Dallas) to get banned. EarlG informed me this morning that I was not banned. Seems that they had a glitch that caused me and one or two others to be locked out as "banned" (some of the time) or "Incorrect Password" (at other times). EarlG and Elad were working on the case. They sent me a new password that works fine.

9. Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa!

Don't post in a bad mood with Bob Mondovi driving. But that was last week fergoodnesssake! DemoTex in trouble twice in two weeks! Actually, as you know, I was just the victim of locking myself out with the keys inside the first time. I cleared cookies, as I do weekly, and counted on the old instant-password from DU. NOT SO ANYMORE! Plus the Admins were short-staffed and in the middle of the server change (great time for me to come down on Skinner, too. He has received many Mea Culpas too).

Next was a glitch in the DU accessware. No, no problems here. Management has been great.

Why would anyone leave the Blue Ridge Mountains for Dallas? To sell a house, that's why!

Actually Dallas is OK. It has good points. Lower Greenville, Deep Ellum, my volunteer work at the Stew Pot, the Katy Trail, etc., etc.! I'll miss them. I'll miss the great medical community. I'll fly back to my doc for physicals and the documentation I need for my long-term-disability status.

I'll have to come back to Doty's (lower Greenville) for my fried shrimp and oyster fix. I'll put on good jeans for a trip to "The Grape."

This morning I ate breakfast at Kuby's in Snyder Plaza. Before I paid the bill I picked up three fresh lamb chops, two whole chickens, and a half pound of Westfalian ham. Can't do that in Rosman.

But the roar is here. The roar of the city. The airport, the hi-ways, and the other additions to the noise levels. It is overwhelming, almost.

I'm obviously hot and cold on the city. As cities go, Dallas is indeed one of the best. Much, much better than Atlanta. Sorry.

But I need to be back in the southeast. I have a house there now, in the mountains. I'll make a clean cut with Dallas. Too bad. Life goes on elsewhere.
