Oh My God...I just found out

that one of my law school classmates committed suicide a few days ago.

I'm just...blank.

His name was Patrick and he was one of the sweetest guys I've ever met. His father found him dead, in his car. Carbon monoxide poisoning, obviously.

I lost contact with him after law school, but many of my other classmates talked to him often. Nobody had a clue.

His mom wrote an amazing tribute to him and forwarded to all of his friends. I just read it, and now I'm a sobbing mess. :(

What really horrifies me is that he didn't feel that he could reach out. So many people loved him, but...I guess he just couldn't see that. Or it wasn't enough. :cry:

I just feel so helpless.

What a waste.

I never met his family, but I just read a memorial that his mother wrote and she obviously loved him beyond words, and would have done anything to help him, had she known.

He was such an intelligent, caring, sweet, thoughtful person. And nobody had a clue that he was suffering.

9. I've lost too many friends to suicide over the years...

each loss is like a knife in me.

Some out of the blue, some no matter what I said or did to help them see that life was worth living, they still did it anyway.

the pain they go through is just so blunt.

I miss them.

I found out that he died a few days ago, but learning that it was suicide just hit me really hard.

I can't imagine how horrible it must be for his family, and friends that were closer to him than I.

I know that depression is a sneaky disease and that Patrick would have done his best to hide it, as he wouldn't want to be a burden on anyone. I mean, logically, I do understand how it works. But it just breaks my heart. :(

We were friends, but we haven't been that close since graduation. I can't imagine how those truly close to him feel right now. :(
