College sports teams you freaking despise?
Mine's the University of North Carolina.

I fucking can't stand those powder blue shitheads.

Seeing them lose to Florida State last night after having a commanding lead made me SOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy!!!

Who's the bane of your existence?

but I take a very dim view of teams with male cheerleaders. I know of one guy who was a cheerleader and he grew up to be a total jerk.

2. I'll second UNC
and throw in Duke. Hate 'em both. Hard to say which one I hate worst. The best thing about a game between the two of them is that one of them has to lose. The worst thing is that one of them has to win. I look forward to seeing Florida State beat Duke later in the year.

but I almost feel sorry for those guys since they are usually a day late and dollar short in football (the sport that matters most to me).

Florida certainly isn't on my favorites list, but the team I despise is the University of Miami.

So much for the "brilliant" Tyrone willingham. The guy wins eight games by a total of eight points in 2002 and "wake up the echoes" and "Willningham is a genuis" is all you hear. So in 2003 they lose eight games by eighty points and not a peep.

A U of M fan and an MSU fan find a magic lantern. After much discussion, they decide to rub it. "What is your wish, masters?", the Genie asks. "You only get one each."

The U of M fan says, "I want to keep all those Spartan fans out of Ann Arbor, and all the U of M fans in on game days!", sneering to his rival.

The MSU fan says, "Hmmm. Only 1 wish? Okay. Surround Ann Arbor with a wall, 1 mile high, and fill it with water..."

An MSU fan on the way home from the game in Ann Arbor is hit by a U of M fan. As they assess the damage, the Spartan says, "You know this rivalry is stupid. Both teams played a great game. I've got this bottle of whisky left over from the tail gating party. Let's have a drink to a well fought game.", producing a half full bottle.

The U of M fan says, "Sure," and proceeds to drink the majority of the bottle. Sneering, he hands the rest to the Spartan.

The Spartan promptly throws the remaining open bottle into the back of the Wolverine's car. Grabbing his cell phone, he dials 911.

"I'd like to report an accident with a drunk driver..."

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer secretly provided damaging information about Alabama to the NCAA, according to a lawyer for two former Crimson Tide football coaches suing the organization.

Court documents show Fulmer twice called NCAA staffer Rich Johanningmeier, who was probing alleged wrongdoing at Alabama in 2000, and gave him information implicating the Tide in rules violations, according to attorney Tommy Gallion.
Gallion, a Montgomery lawyer who represents former Alabama assistants Ronnie Cottrell and Ivy Williams, contends the NCAA ignored violations at Tennessee in exchange for Fulmer's help in the case against Alabama.

"They buried everything at Tennessee and they went after Alabama based on what Phillip Fulmer said," said Gallion.

The documents, obtained Friday by The Associated Press, surfaced in federal court in Memphis, Tenn., where former Alabama booster Logan Young is awaiting trial in the recruiting scandal. A motion filed by Young's attorney cleared the way for the release of the records Monday, including notes by the NCAA investigator who asked that Fulmer's name be kept secret.

Fulmer declined comment Thursday, citing the ongoing federal investigation.

Gallion's sun brings light to NCAA process

01/23/04

Sorry. There was no press conference Thursday. Tommy Gallion did not stand up and tell the world that documents prove Phillip Fulmer is the Great Pumpkin.

That's OK. You can't shock the world and stun the Vols every week. Besides, Gallion promises more juicy revelations to come, perhaps as early as the beginning of next week.

If we've learned anything about the man during his transformation from lawyer to crusader, when he says there's more to come, he means it.

Gallion's fast becoming as much of a migraine for Fulmer as Steve Spurrier used to be. When Gallion revealed last week that Fulmer was a secret witness in the NCAA case against Alabama, he did more than unmask a coach who was paranoid above and beyond the call of duty.

He raised a lot of questions, one that deserves an answer above all others. Did the NCAA grant Fulmer and Tennessee immunity in exchange for his backstage help in gathering testimony against Alabama?

65. Because you're a Bruin for 4 years, a Trojan for Life
USC's campus is terrific -- gorgeous architecture, classy brick walkways, plenty of tall trees in little parks including in front of Doheny Library, and historic landmarks like Tommy Trojan and Heritage Hall. UCLA's is just another undefined expanse, other than Pauley Pavilion which should be uprooted to 'SC and renamed.

I don't have enough space to list all the memorable films and TV shows that have been filmed at USC, including The Graduate.

I absolutely loved USC's compact campus and the atmosphere there, after having stereotyped concerns when I enrolled from Miami. I would write my sports stories for the Daily Trojan on the von Kleinschmid Center steps, guaranteed that some of the most beautiful women in the world would soon walk past. Plus you could always track down a friend or roommate in minutes. Try that at UCLA.

It's one of the most highly regarded performance venues in Southern California. The acoustics are absolutely first-rate -- I just saw Randy Newman there last night.

Also, the UCLA Medical Center and Hospital deserve to be mentioned. It is consistently ranked among the best teaching hospitals in the United States.

The above two teams top my list, followed closely by Notre Dame (no good reason for disliking Notre Dame so much). For the Criminoles, I just don't care for Diddy Bowden and for the Tahd, well they cheat, cheat and then cheat some more; furthermore, I have never been too keen on the collective arrogance of most of bama's athletics fans (note: I have several UA grads that I am friends with - just not during football season!)

39. Re: UT
I understand it's about to get real ugly between UA and UT based upon the articles you refer to and others getting a lot of press in B'ham about Fulmer's testimony - that won't be good for either school or for the conference.

As I understand it, coaches are under a duty (not sure where it's written or codified) to report other school's NCAA violations when they learn of them - so, it can be argued that is under what authority Fulmer was acting.

Even allowing there were/are some trumped up charges, I personally believe the ALbert Means purchase and sale, with all the Memphis booster's channeling players to UA, was sufficiently documented in the eyes of the NCAA to implement the current sanctions.

44. Then where's the money trail?
Stay tuned. It's looking more and more like UT and UT boosters set Bama up. There is (or was) a gentleman's agreement among Coaches to contact the Coach first if you suspect cheating and then your AD.

There's a criminal trial going on in Memphis right now with Logan Young, the supposedly "Rogue Booster" for Bama. His attorney is
a former Watergate prosecutor. There's going to be a civil trial in
Tuscaloosa because a former Tide coach is suing the NCAA. The two
attorneys are working together to expose the corruption within Memphis
and the NCAA.

I don't really know much more than what I wrote above (based on what I have gleaned from articles over the past year or so), but it gets me back to my contention that things are looking ugly for the whole conference if the shit hits the fan arising from those trials.

Hopefully the SEC won't end up like the old SWC.

48. New Revelations today

Gallion: UT booster another NCAA witness

Cottrell attorney says Memphis' Schledwitz is a Young adversary

01/23/04

By PAUL GATTIS
Times Sports Staff pgattis@htimes.com

http://www.al.com/alabamafootball/huntsvilletimes/index.ssf?/base/sports/1074874571166120.xml

Defense attorney Tommy Gallion on Thursday identified a third secret witness in the NCAA's case against the Alabama football program.

Gallion said that NCAA documents show that Karl Schledwitz, a Tennessee booster from Memphis, was an anonymous source for investigators in the probe against the Crimson Tide.

The revelation came Thursday as Gallion, who is representing former Alabama assistant coaches Ronnie Cottrell and Ivy Williams in a suit against the NCAA, sifted through almost 8,000 pages of documents made available in the federal case against disassociated Tide booster Logan Young of Memphis.

Also, Gallion said he plans to ask for a congressional investigation into the NCAA's dealings with Alabama at a news conference Tuesday in Birmingham. Cottrell and Williams will also be at the news conference to answer questions, Gallion said.

Nothing like hearing the whole hockey crowd shouting that cheer! Though I suspect we would have fared differently had we ever played them in football. Some folks were, apparently seriously, suggesting that matchup in 1994 or 1995, when the Terrier football team was actually pretty good -- apparently not understanding the difference between Division I and Division I-AA.

I made it my lot in life to attend Universities with rodent mascots it seems...

51. Duke men's basketball n/t
Coach K looks and acts like a wiesel though I have much respect for them. I hate the Cameron crazies but that's only b/c I'm not one of them--they look like they have so much fun.

56. Nebraska!
I grew up there and it's nuts. There's not much of a place for anyone who could care less about football.
