And another MAC question . . .
Edited on Sat Jul-21-07 10:40 AM by Karenca
Do you buy the Apple Care Plan?
I don't, but I'm curious to know if you do, and if you think it's a worthwhile investment.

Thanks.

1. I did, and I'm glad.
Macs are known for their reliability, but to me it's worth it to know that I will basically never have to face a repair bill. I have only used it once when the drawer you put the disc in became stuck. So I personally haven't gotten my money's worth out of it yet. But I am planning to renew it when it comes up for renewal in a couple of months. Repair bills can become very expensive. To me the peace of mind knowing that I won't have to pay one of those exorbitant bills is enough to make it worth the price. But Macs are pretty reliable and rarely need repairs.

2. Thanks
I've never bought the plan myself, but my son just called and asked me if I thought he should buy it for his MAC.
I knew I'de get some good advice here. ;-)

3. I usually wait for the warranty to get close to running out...
If you wait, you can put off the extra expense for a while, and see if your computer is stable over a period of time or not. I usually don't get it, then if a computer has an issue during the warranty period, then I get it, assuming that I will have more issues with that computer. If a computer makes it through a year or two without it, then you likely have a good one, and can just pay for the unlikely repairs that come up.

That's just me. I have about 10 Macs right now, and paying for Apple Care on all of them would be significant. I've yet to actually pay out of pocket for a repair on an Apple, and have been using them since 1984. Pretty damn good track record if you ask me!
