OK this is not the world's worst problem, but help me out folks! |

What do I do with my collection of movies on VCR, taking up space that should be used for my DVD's? Yes, I still have a VCR player (actually a dual VCR/DVD player bought last January). But neither I nor my spouse ever watches them any more. Too bad, there are some great movies so we hate to just toss them.
Do any of you keep your old VCR's? I have one of my daughter's wedding in 1991 that I treasure but nothing else with that kind of bond. Do they decompose after just 5 or 10 years?

1. We have video cassettes at my mum's house that have lasted much longer |

than 5, or even 10 years. Some going back to the 80s that are still watchable. I'm not sure if that could be said of a DVD or not - time will tell.
OTOH, I would be tempted to copy them onto DVD just for the space saving. But I might keep the original cassettes stored somewhere safely, just in case.

that my wife won't let me throw out. Mostly it's crap she and her mother recorded off television on the lowest quality anyway...
I bought a DVD-R a while back, and I have put some old videos of school performances and such on DVD, but I've made nary a dent in the collection.

3. I have the same problem. |

I have videos of every little league, midget football, and junior high basketball game my son ever participated in. Plus loads of old movies. I don't know what to do with them either. Eventually we won't even have VCR's to play them on (if they hold up.)
