Old furniture: are there any links to sites where I might find out the possible value of my |
|
dining room furniture?
I have a set from 1950 consisting of a table, four chairs, a china cabinet, and buffet. It's a blondish wood, and it's all wood. None of that particle board and veneer crap. It was my grandmother's, and although I am fond of it for sentimental reasons, it's really too big for my house.
I understand mid-century furniture is popular now. I'd consider selling it on craigslist, but I have no idea what to ask for it. I realize it's not a priceless antique, but I don't want to inadvertantly give it away, either.
Are there any websites where I might find out the approximate worth of this set? Thanks.

3. I can't really tell. I crawled under the table to see, but the center is hidden |
|
by the leaf, which I cannot figure out how to remove! The china cabinet and buffet are too heavy for me to move, I'll have to get a friend to come and help me. Thanks!

2. My grandmothers fancy dinning table was estimated to be worth |
|
$1500 or so. Chairs a few hundred (like maybe $75 each). Auctioneer told us people were not buying traditional dinner sets. They were going for modern or rustic stuff these days and there was a glut of good furniture on the market.

4. Hmmm... that does not sound good for my selling plans. But to be honest, |
|
if I do sell the set and buy replacements, I would probably also get rustic and/or mismatched pieces. Thanks!
