1. I think "Enemy of the State" |
|
is liberal, but it's fiction. It's about gov't surveillance. I only know fiction ones. The Pelican Brief is another one. Also that one on the tobacco industry I cant remember the name of, someone else will.

It's seriously underrated. It was marketed as a comedy because serious sport movies don't sell but this movie makes a lot of great points about exploitation of labor.
It's like Upton Sinclair's the Jungle, except the characters are 1970s NFL players.
There's also some great stuff about the hypocrisy of religion, a team prayer concludes with the exhortation: "Let's go kill those cocksuckers."
"Joe Bob's just here to remind us that the biggest and the meanest get to make all the rules", truer words were never spoken.
And I haven't even mentioned the weird part.

24. "Salt of the Earth" (1954) and "El Norte" (1983) |
|
"Salt of the Earth" is the only blacklisted film. It's a very low-budget but extremely good docudrama about a strike at a zinc mine. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047443/"El Norte" is simply the best film made about the topic of immigration. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085482/
