Poll question: Dilemma of the day: Give a gift or not? |
|
Today I'm going to a pool party for my 2 yo nephew. He's cute as a button and rambunctious as hell. :D
A couple of months ago when I was shopping for birthday gifts for him and his sister, I found a cute collection of tub paints for him. "What a neat idea," I thought. Well I still think it's a cute idea. I love the idea of being able to color the tub and get clean at the same time.
Here's my problem. With all of the consumer scares lately, I looked at the package and saw the words "MADE IN CHINA." Presently, I can't find any information on any recalls for this product. And I bought it at a reputable firm (Pottery Barn Kids).
What would you do?

But volunteer to clean the bathroom if the rambunctious nephew gets out of control.

4. He's covered for clothes |
|
He's getting hand me downs from his best friends who wore them just last year. He wears something 3, 4 times tops and he's outgrown it. :D

5. I wouldn't worry about the safety of the gift. |
|
I would worry that he might still be to young to tell the difference between it being OK to paint the tub with a certain paint and that it is bad to paint the dining room walls with other paints. It sounds like a cool gift for a five year old, two years old seems a little young.

He does have the general idea that certain toys are for certain areas. Or rather that certain areas are safe to play in: His and his sister's bedrooms, their playroom, a small space in the living room. I don't know that his bedroom has washable paint though. :D
But that's mom and dad's job, not mine! :P I'm such an evil aunt!

7. If only they made paint that made noise.. |
|
When my sisters kid turned six I bought him a little kids drum-set for his birthday.
She is still pissed off about that 7 years later. Bang! Bang! Crash!

9. don't give the gift, but not because of a recall issue... |

i speak from experience when i tell you that those tub paint things are crap. they leave big globs of goop all over the tub and the kid.
