Condo buying questions...
If you got an e-mail that basically said, give us a cashiers check by 5pm tonight or else, would you tell them to fuck off or not?

I have not even decided completely if I want to buy this particular unit or not, there is another one I like more, and it is cheaper, and in a better building, but there are things I like about this one as well. BUT, I do NOT like being forced into a position to purchase such an expensive item such as this in this manner.

What would you do if you got an e-mail such as this one?

1. Seems rather fishy to me, jasonc.
I agree with you, you should NOT be "forced" into buying property in that way.

Good luck! :hi:

2. I would tell them that you are going to report them to the
state realtor board (if it is a realtor). AND do not buy anything as big as this under pressure. Another one will show up.

Just MHO.:hi:

3. There is another one
for 100K less, in a better building, in a better part of downtown, and with a fireplace, but without the walls of floor to ceiling windows that I REALLY like.

5. Then if you like that one better - grab it!
100k LESS? That is a huge difference, and if you like to location better then you should think seriously on it.

Who was it who sent you the email? Your realtor? The condo board?

6. It was the
saleslady I met when I walked in to take a look at the place 1 week ago, so I guess it was the realtor.

8. Tell her you are going to report her for harrassment.
That is completely unprofessional and bordering on unethical.

And tell her you will tell everyone you know NOT to buy in there.

4. Tell em to fuck off
That's an unreasonable term.

If they're dicks about when to recieve an offier, they'll be dicks at closing too.

7. I'd tell them I've been thrown out of better places than theirs
No, I wouldn't submit to blackmail, if that's what you're asking.

12. sounds pretty shady to me
Buying a Condo should involve real estate agents, lawyers and a closing date that everyone agrees to.

17. I agree
I have no idea what would motivate them to attempt this tactic.

15. "When in doubt, throw it out"?
You might have to deal with that person and those same tactics again..

Trust your gut.

16. Not even a phone call to warn a better bid is...
coming in a back door? That would be good news compared to what it looks like.

I would be thinking that things being the way they are, somebody's in deep financial shit and needs confirmed sales and deposits before they get another panny out of the bank to finish the job.

The windows sound nice, but not worth a hundred grand if you have to borrow it to give to a potentially bankrupt company. It's tough getting your money back on a condo in the best of times, and we're not heading into the best of times.
