Question for the Ladies:
Is it ok for a man to tell you that something is showing that he thinks you might not want to have showing? If so, what is the best way to do so? I'm often afraid of saying anything for fear of them thinking that I was looking or think that they should burkha up. But I dont want to cause them any embarassment etc. Like the other day, my friends girlfriend had a skirt and bikini bottom on, but the bikini bottom had kinda scooched over. I saw cause she was sitting on a truck tailgate as we were getting a jetski in the lake. How do I go after that one?

Little help for someone trying to be gentleman-ly

3. Yes, she should know, or else she'll feel worse later
Two ways:

1.) If there's a female around, even a kid, get them to tell her.

2.) If there are no other females around, just tell her in a very nice, semi joking way about what's showing, ie "I know my sisters/GF/Mom like to know when this happens, so..." Just try to do it without anyone else overhearing... that way she wouldn't be really embarrassed, just mainly appreciative.

4. Depends on your friendship level with the young lady
Edited on Wed Aug-08-07 10:17 AM by supernova
If you speak frankly to each other already, then it's not a big deal to simply tell her to check her bathing suit. Although, in that instance,

shifted bathing suit + tailgate = I can't believe she didn't feel it.

 I know I would! :D

If you don't know her very well, or if she would react badlly, maybe best to tell her girlfriend who can tell the girl, w/o embarassment.

edit: You're gentleman, Dragonbreathp9d.

9. I think that's a lose-lose situation
I would just let it go and pretend you didn't see anything. There's just no good way to say it without completely embarrassing her. It's usually better for another girl to point out something like that, but that's just my opinion.

12. I think you confused some of the posters on this thread
Your OP implied her bikini bottom was riding up on her ass.

Your later posts clarified that you were looking up her skirt.

So no, there is no way to convey that information to her--through a female friend or otherwise.

"Gentlemanly" would be to pretend you didn't notice. Or not to look up her skirt in the first place.

15. oh eep!
if she had a skirt on and you only noticed because you were looking up the skirt then come here so I can wack your nose with a rolled up newspaper.

16. skirt was wide open at eye level, it was not intentional by any means
that just tends to catch your eye when you look up to respond to her (we were having a discussion about food)

17. ok, then I won't swat ya
but I don't think there's really an appropriate way for a man to tell a woman that under those circumstances. If there hadn't been a skirt I personally would have just casually said something like "your swimming suit is twisted" or something like that. But, being a woman I'd have a lot more leeway. This is one of those areas where life is more complicated for men I think.

13. "...burkha up...." LOL!!
 those words made me laugh out loud, thanks. :D

answering your question, I'd just politely and quickly tell her that she might want to make a wardrobe adjustment and leave it at that. You don't have to get into the specifics of what was showing, in other words. Trust me, she'd figure it out on her own.

:hi: Good for you for being such a gentleman!

14. Easy
Reach up the skirt, grab the bikini, re-adjust to cover what's showing.

Say "you're welcome."

and get on the Jet Ski and fly!

20. Perhaps if you had ask for her help doing something to get her off her ass
when she got off of the truck's tailgate the suit would have righted itself.
