We've all dieted down at least a couple of sizes! See People magazine August 20 for full story.

Tips and tricks that work for me:

No food after 6 PM. Healthy food before junk food (with just a little chocolate once in a while). Engage in many more non-sedentary activities, especially swimming, walking, and free-style hugging (ahem..).

San Francisco trip was a winner -- I was able to wear two sundresses that I've been too heavy to put on for years. We walked EVERYWHERE, and ate relatively healthy sandwiches from Trader Joes, as well as fresh fruit from Fisherman's Wharf. Stay away from processed foods.

Here's my photo, after losing just 12 pounds (May 2007). Now I've lost 20 pounds! Goal is 30 more pounds by December 2007.

2. Congrats, RL!!
:applause: well done, you're an inspiration.

Glad you had fun out in our neck o' the woods. We're only about 1 1/2 hrs south of SF, just a bit north of Santa Cruz. Next time you're out here, maybe we can hook up.

BTW, I went to see the movie "Once" last night by myself. I really LOVED it. Did you ever get a chance to see it? The music is outstanding. I'm considering buying the soundtrack, I liked it so much.

:hi:

3. Thanks, Shine. Appreciate the encouragement!
I'm still checking out the local movie scene since returning from California last night.

I might go to see "Once" myself -- like you did. Hubby is going on a beach day outing tomorrow to Fort Stevens, on the Pacific Coast, with the 10 year old youngster he is now mentoring.

That leaves me with one big OPEN Saturday -- nothing to do but please myself (and food shop, too, of course...).

We flew in and out of San Jose Airport and drove past the exits for Santa Cruz twice! Thanks for the invite. I had limited access to the DU so didn't get to do my usual query of "what to do in Northern California" prior to our visit.

Peace, love and happiness,

Radio Lady Ellen in Oregon

5. I'd like to lose 22 by December - good luck to you!!!
I'll try to get my before and after pics up sometime soon. I've lost 67 since Feb. 06. 30 of those since Feb. 07.

Definitely trying the - no food after __ pm (usually around 7pm) for me - because I've hurt my knee and my activity level has suddenly plummeted. I'll have to try that hugging thing.

8. Thanks, SoLeft. Same to you... it's an effort, but worth it. Hope your knee feels better soon.
I'm nursing a slight shoulder bruise and have to go soak it in warm water.

Me 'n' Tylenol go good together.

I gotta get away from this keyboard, too.

Thanks for the Rx re: more activity.

19. For Maddy and Sarah Belle: I haven't seen Larry King in person since 1971.

Of course, there is the time I called in to Westwood Radio in the 1980s and he didn't remember me at all!

And I do watch his TV show when he has a guest or guests that interest me.

21. great work!
losing weight is difficult... so this is no small feat.

I finally have the scale going in the right direction again. I need to lose the 10 I've put on since my lowest, and then I want to lose 30 more.

I lost 4 last month.

22. We're just about in the same league. Right now, I'm so pleased with the results that I think
Edited on Mon Aug-13-07 08:48 AM by Radio_Lady
I will be stronger than ever. Yesterday, I wore a beautiful dress that is a size 10. It was in the back of my closet, all clean and ready to go. I can't wait to get into some winter dresses I've had for the day "when I'd be slimmer again." That time is NOW.

Bertinelli and Alley had the same reaction to their skinny jeans.

I'm facing my 70s in relatively good health, but overweight. Although she is frail, my 84-year-old aunt kept encouraging me and scolding me at the same time. I think I'm doing it for her! She is 4' 11' and she weights 84 pounds. I should look so good at her age.

Knowing I can change my weight simply by increasing my movement and/or exercise and decreasing my food consumption... just doesn't seem that hard now.

I tell myself, "There's a skinny old lady inside this fat gal." I know I'll never look like this again (see photo), but I could be this weight. Who knows? It might do wonders for my ego and my health.

From 1956
