Anybody else get wanderlust? |
|
I get it so bad sometimes, and I want to just go. Anywhere. Everywhere.
The weather lately has been fresh and a little cool mornings and evenings and for whatever reason, that kind of weather makes it worse. I'll be driving somewhere and instead of getting off the exit, I just have the urge to keep going and see where I'll end up.
Having given in to those inclinations a number of times in my life, I have no fears about it to keep me grounded. Just obligations which sometimes seem awfully heavy.
It's inevitable that I'll give in again and soon. Maybe just a 3 or 4 day road trip, no destination, just a chance to feel the wind in my hair. ~sigh~
Ever feel like that?

1. Sometimes. I'm pretty much a homebody, but I get that road trip feeling now and then. |

I get very itchy feet sometimes. But my budget isn't always condusive to such pleasures. Most I can do at such times is OD on the travel channel.
I would love to take more driving trips though, now that I have a newer car.

4. It's funny how the budget things works |

Used to be I didn't even think about it. I'd just walk out of the house and stick out my thumb and be gone for a month or two. I never traveled with a destination and I never cared about seeing the things you have to pay to see. It's the road I'm always after.
But now I think about things like affording it. Gas, food, lodging. Used to be I could just doze on a grassy place by the side of the road and eat when I could but I can't do that anymore. Or I don't want to. ;)
Doesn't keep me from feeling like going, though. Must be what a caged bird feels like...

I never did the backpacking thing, but I think I could stand it for a night or two as part of wider journey now, though. Just a good bed in a clean room is sufficient for me. I like luxury hotels of course, but they aren't necessary for having a good time.

My screen name means wander in Welsh.
I find it difficult to stay in one place for long.

Gas prices make it harder, though.

I backpacked and bike trekked. Though I had an ulterior motive - to settle down in another country. Alas, it didn't work out. I guess I should've hunkered down illegally and taken my chances. But now, with all the phony security time wasters at airports, it's no longer fun to fly. And with hard times a'comin', I'd better save a survival stash.
