Update: I put a trap out for little gray kitten |
|
Lately she's roaming around mostly without her mom, and still nosing around my place because she knows I'll feed her. I think getting her used to people would be a task for somebody who's home more, but I'll at least get her in to the vet to be fixed, given shots, etc and since she's so young and cute I doubt I'll have too much trouble finding somebody who's interested.
In the morning we'll see if there are any pissed off furry faces to greet me in the kitty klink. If not baby kitty on the first shot I'm hoping I'll get the big orange Tom that's probably keeping most of the female ferals babyfied.

3. How did you guess I baited it with chicken and rice cat food? |
|
I skipped the two fruits, because unlike you I don't want to feed animals better than our guests at Camp X-Ray.

10. I'm not a starter of flamewars, |

unlike some people I could name. Muscular vegan people in cartoon underpants with dog hair upholstered wagons, not to be too specific.

4. Trin has already put her paw down, more kitties over her furry body. |
|
Unless she warms up to the little thing I have to find her a home once I get her altered.

11. One of my cats seems to have been a feral rescue. |
|
She's still part wild. She'll cost me a bit when I move out of this apartment, for the carpet and blinds she's ruined. Not to mention the furniture. All of my domestic cats look me in the eye when they are playing or just trying to get food or attention. This one rarely looks at my face. She watches my hands and feet, whichever are moving. Her ears are constantly flicking, too, from the AC to the ice maker to the people passing outside four stories below. Her idea of playing is to bite just hard enough to bruise but not break the skin, and then lick the same spot. Maybe she's not playing--maybe she's feeding. Nice kitty. Somehow, she knows to be a little more gently with my kids.
Good luck. Feral kitties have a charm all their own. Hope Al-CAT-raz isn't too rough on her.

12. My late stepfather adopted a feral kitten once. |
|
Her name was Bunny (after his father's nickname for his mother, Bonnie) and she was the cutest little orange manx I've ever seen. She loved him to death but never really warmed up to any other humans and wasn't real fond of other cats either.
I once saw her leap up off the ground and snatch a pidgeon out of mid-air.
She died pretty young, my stepdad wasn't home and she refused to come inside without him around, and she got sick out in the rain. She was a really cool cat.
