Is the Cheesecake Factory on DU's shitlist along with Olive Garden? |
|
Because I ate there tonight, had a very tasty pasta dish, a lovely mango margarita AND a slice of cheesecake. I now feel like I'm going to explode. :)

Ended up with the da vinci pasta (I think that's what it was) which was yummy. And Kahlua Coffee Mocha cheesecake. :9

4. I don't know about DU's shit list but it's on mine. I'm glad you had a good meal there |
|
because I've been there exactly three times and have yet to experience one. There are far too many restaurants in Chicago to bother giving Cheesecake Factory a fourth chance, unless I'm going out for someone's birthday or a work lunch and I have no control over the choice of venue. Mango margarita sounds good though, I may have to go to El Tapatio soon and have one. YUM!

...we wave to it from "Marconi Grill" and "California Pizza", and are in awe of it, because we don't want to stand in the insane waiting line...

There is a Cheesecake Factory in Pasadena, CA that is crowded at all times. It's amazing to me.

11. There were a bunch of people ahead of us when we got there |
|
And we were seated in less than 10 minutes. I was impressed - normally we go during the week but I've never had to wait for a table. I figured I might have to spend 20 minutes or so at the bar but it was very quick.
The menu is like reading War and Peace.

The ones at the restaurant are to die for, and the frozen variety is pretty darned good too.

20. I like The Cheesecake Factory very much |
|
VERY generous portions. Good food, and reasonable prices. And extremely good cheesecake.
Of course all of the above is still not going to be good enough for the food snobs among us.

24. It's on my personal shitlist because the news media here treated the opening of a CF as news. |
|
"Wow! We have yet another big chain restaurant! We're a real city now!"
That said, for a big chain restaurant, the food is decent. Not spectacular, but decent.

We can't go there unless we bring 3 people at dinner and order an appetizer and one entre. At lunch one order is enough for 2. Who has room for cheesecake?

28. If I lived in a place with decent restaurants, I wouldn't eat at a chain |
|
But I don't live in such a place so chains are sometimes the better option for me. Here, we have very good, very cheap, family run Mexican places (some which happen to have 13 or 14 restaurants, so I guess they are sort of chains also) but not much else that's very good and cheap. No decent Italian places, for example.

31. Actually, it's the only chain I can think of offhand that I go to |
|
I'm the type of person who likes trying out the mom and pop places. There are some great Mexican restaurants I go to, all or most of them family owned and a couple of them just little taqueria places that serve great food for next to nothing, there's a sports bar in town that's also family owned that I go to a lot. There's an Italian place I went to once that was quite good and that's not a chain.
But I do love the cheesecake and they make a killer mango margarita.

29. Waaaay too much stuff on the menu.. |
|
Especially for an indecisive person like me. It's overwhelming. Food isn't bad but so far I haven't made the best choices from the hundreds of entrees on the menu.
