Question for Johnny Cash fans... |
|
In the middle of "Folsom Prison Blues", during Perkins' guitar solo, Mr. Cash shouts something. It sounds like "Sooie", "Stewie", "Sue me"... something like that. What he hell is he saying?
He does this on the famous live version that we're all familiar with, and I've heard him do it a couple of times in other performances of the song. I just can't make out what it is.

1. That would be "Sooie!" |

It's what the country folk used to yell when they wanted the pigs to get away from them, or otherwise disperse a herd of swine. It's often confused with a hog call, thanks to Razorback football fans, but it means "git" as opposed to "c'mere."
No telling what-all was running around in Cash's brain back in them days, but he WAS the King Of Rock And Roll!

That's what it sounds like. I wasn't sure.
Maybe it was some inside joke between him and Luther Perkins.
And I certainly agree that he was the King. :toast:
