Anyone here ever intimidate a Wingnut?
I know I'll get shit for this - but in my college days I was an angry angry boy. I was also a convert to the lefty side, and, well, as the saying goes: "There is no zeal like that of a convert."

Anyway, I used to go looking for wingnuts just to start fights with them. Sometimes I won, sometimes they did, and sometimes we both got so tired we just crawled away. Oregon rednecks can fight, even when drunk - but once you get them on the ground, its all over for them. Low center of gravity and all.

2. Once, during the 2000 recount debacle. I snapped (and for good reason).
I worked at a Santa Monica law firm with offices at the top of an office tower. One day, in early December (in the middle of the recount drama), I got on the elevator with one of our attorneys and our file clerk, all headed downstairs to lunch. There was one floor above us, and one of the building's maintenance guys was already on the elevator when we got on.

My colleagues and I (all liberals) had been discussing the recount, and continued our discussion on the elevator. About halfway down, Mr. Maintenance Guy loudly, and uninvitedly, interjects "Al Gore is a WIMP."

That's when I lost it.

I pivoted instantly to face him, lectured him first on how rude it was to butt into a conversation to which he was not a party, then lit into him about the election. This continued the rest of the way down the elevator and into the elevator lobby, where I literally had him backed up against a wall, and was as in your face as a person could get. Our file clerk had to physically pull me away from the guy, and I was shaking with rage. I've never done anything like that before, or since (came close a time or two). Oh, and I'm 5'5", and he was well over 6 feet tall. He avoided me like the plague whenever he saw me after that in the building. Asshole.

3. On my debating list
I know I've got them when they start to whine about the length of the thread (then I start on them about how long a thread is supposed to be in their opinion). They have to control the conversation by being the last one to post on the topic, so they inadvertently reveal that they are getting frustrated if you keep the thread going by responding to their last inanity.

6. Ive only snapped once
and it was at work, about 7 years ago. Someone was going on about how they were boycotting Disney because of the way they support gays and such, I'm sure you've heard it before, and trying to tell others they needed to boycott such an irresponsible company.

I lost it. I ended up shouting "So, you're going to boycott a company because the REFUSE to discriminate the way you want them to?" and left.
