Chicken soup and electricity |
|
Edited on Thu Aug-16-07 08:27 PM by UTUSN
So earlier today I posted a recipe thread, asking for advice. So I made a critical mistake. The soup pot was on the big burner. I decided to boil water for noodles (wheat, if that wins me points) on a smaller burner. I don't cook much so the ONLY burner I use is the big one. So apparently there was CRUD in the unused, smaller burner. And the crud ignited, and burned through the aluminum water pan, and burned through the smaller burner's wires or whatever they're called.
So there was major arc-ing and fireworks sparks. I, of course, dashed over to turn off the knobs, and eventually everything died down. However, the current (as in "electrical current"), red light ("on") would NOT turn off until unplugged.
So, the stove is OUT. Now, I wonder whether any damage was done to the wiring of the house? The breakers did NOT shut off.
The chicken was done. But it turned out to be BOILED chicken, btw.
On Edit: $400+ for some boiled chicken. Looks like nobody wants to touch THIS one!!1

1. Your stove has a 3 prong plug, right? |

I thought all stoves were on a separate circuit, so your house wiring should be ok.
I'm most definitely NOT an electrician!...just my 2 cents.
Good luck!
