Went hiking at the Pinnacles yesterday (pics)
And drove right by Oedi's house on the way (I waved).

The Pinnacles is pretty neat - it's the remains of part of an ancient volcano. In the process of tectonic place movement, about 3/4 of it is near Hollister and the other part is down by LA - that's how much the earth moves over the millenia.

Lots of good hiking and nifty rock formations. Saw some rock climbers in action which was pretty cool. Good time.

This is a reservoir on one of the trails -

Neat rocks -

Taken on one of the rim trails - nice views up there -

2. It's been so dry this year
It's always dry but we got about 50% of what we needed for rainfall. I just hope nobody drops a match anywhere. The fire danger is high.

It was a really fun day, though. Thanks. :hi:

6. Thanks, Peggy
It was hot but not as hot as it might have been. There was a breeze blowing which made it very nice. I love the wildness of this country. :hi:

7. Isn't that some of the famous Star Trek scenery?

8. I think they used similar landscapes around LA
Which is where the other part of this formation is. I don't know if that was what they used though it would be neat if it was.

However, speaking of Star Trek, I plan on visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium which was used as the Cetacian Institute in Star Trek IV. :hi:

10. Yes, I waved, SmartyPants
I'm a Yankee - I wouldn't think of dropping in on someone unannounced.

(but I did wave both ways - there and back O8) )
