A Thanksgiving to remember this year-I'm getting married!!!!!!
It's hard for me to believe that I'm now actually planning my own wedding, instead of helping others to plan theirs. It'll be a nice, simple, but lovely affair, the day after Thanksgiving, 10-15 people, at a B&B, with a reception dinner afterwards and then a brunch the next morning.

My fiance is divorced, but I've never been married. He would have been content with just doing it at the courthouse, but he knows that, since it's my first (and my last!) that I wanted just a little bit more. So, he let me plan the ceremonial shindig, knowing that I didn't want anything big or even medium, or any of that kind of hassle, and he would take care of planning the honeymoon. I hate details, planning, organization, etc., etc., and I've never understood huge weddings with all the hoo-ha bells, whistles and trimmings, and this wedding is a very nice compromise. I'm not even going to worry about going to the expense and hassle of buying a dress, I have a perfectly nice fall dress with matching shoes that will do very well.

My teenage son was hilarious when I first told him of our engagement back in May. "Wow, 42 years old and it's finally paid off." Geez, out of the mouths of babes!

So, it will, indeed, be a Thanksgiving to remember! The only problem is my family back in Ohio is upset that I'm not coming back there and having a huge to-do, an unfortunate family tradition. I told them that if that's what they really wanted, they could plan it and pay for it themselves, not to mention getting us the time off from work we'd need to travel there for everything.

3. LOL! I wondered when you were
going to come along and drop that little gem! Yes, as I told you, his stepdaughter called to ask that not even two hours after I called to tell her the date, place and time. WTF, it's whatever the hell you wanna wear!

Maybe one of these days we'll be able to get out to CA so you can meet him. One of his brothers lives in Long Beach, CA, so you never know!!!

6. Thanks!
I guess maybe "Sleepless in Seattle" might have had a point, after all, since it took me moving several states away to find "the one"!, lol.

20. No kidding
Almost 5 years since the Iraq occupation began (and, since I met my now-husband at a march in DC two months before the war).

21. What wonderful news!
:toast:

May these vows and this marriage be blessed.
May it be sweet milk, this marriage, like wine and halvah.
May this marriage offer fruit and shade, like the desert palm.
May this marriage be full of laughter,
our every day ~ a day in paradise.
May this marriage be a sign of compassion,
a seal of happiness here and hereafter.
May this marriage have a fair face and a good name,
an omen as welcomed as the moon in a clear blue sky.

I am out of words to describe how Spirit mingles in this marriage.
Rumi, Kulliyat-E Shams, 2667
