5. My dear kagehime...
Oh, thank you, sweetie...

It went well, even though I had trouble parking, got lost, and walked in a couple of minutes late!

But she was understanding...

And I already have homework!

9. Do you have to do the poem on a particular subject?
A lot of great poems floating around on DU, and I have some poems as well if it helps to get the mind churning any.

Maybe ya could write one about the lounge

13. LOL!
You made this tired lady laugh out loud, sweetie!

I have to write a lyric poem (one that expresses the emotion of a speaker) and I have to use both abstract and concrete imagery...

I have no ideas as yet......but they will come!

But I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your very kind offer!

15. Never taken a poetry class before, got to be really interesting
I looked it up because I am not familiar with poetry terms:

Much lyric poetry depends on regular meter based either on number of syllables or on stress. The most common meters are as follows:

* Iambic - two syllables, with the long or stressed syllable following the short or unstressed syllable.
* Trochaic - two syllables, with the short or unstressed syllable following the long or stressed syllable.
* Anapestic - three syllables, with the first two short or unstressed and the last long or stressed.
* Dactylic - three syllables, with the first one long or stressed and the other two short or unstressed.

Some forms have a combination of meters, often using a different meter for the refrain.

Each meter can have any number of elements, called feet. The most common meter in English is iambic pentameter, with five iambs per line. The most common in French is the alexandrin, with twelve syllables. In English, the alexandrine is iambic hexameter.

11. A quickie poem for the lounge: There once was a poster from Nantucket
Who posted in a GD Flamewar
Then said fuck it

He left after being called a scrounge
and starting looking around
And finally settled in
and found his new home, the lounge
