What's an appropriate sentiment for the death of CBGB's founder Hilly Kristal?

Rest in Peace is the cliche but that seems wrong for someone who created a revolution in music and pop culture. I confess that I never went to his club but I spent countless hours enjoying the music of the bands that he spawned and nurtured.

Thank you Hilly, we never met but I'm glad you were around. You made the world a better place.
