What is it about cats and books?
Every cat i have ever had has had a thing about laying on whatever it is i am trying to read...

1. The theory is that if they get between you and the object you
have focused your attention on, then you have no choice but to focus that same attention on them. I know what you mean, though. My cat seems to want to lay on anything I am looking at.

2. same deal with my cats and my laptop
Often one of them tries to sit on the keyboard to get between me and the screen. They also do the book thing as well.:)

3. My youngest kid is the same way
:) She gets between me and whatever I'm paying attention to. Including her older sister. Actually, she's stopped that as she's gotten older, but she used to climb on my lap when I was reading and stick her head in front of the book.
