29. Lol, I read your post and got the craving for Indian!
We just got back; I had a great fish vindaloo
and sweetie got the eggplant biryani. Garlic nan,
as we always do, and their vegetarian sampler for
starters.

I'm really glad I decided to break out of my saag rut;
that fish was just excellent! :9

35. If I'm not sure how to pronounce it, I mumble it as I point to the menu description.
And you can always ask the waiter for recommendations,
then just say "that sounds good- I'll have that".

They're generally very used to patrons who can't pronounce
things, so it's not really a big deal.

9. Don't hate me because of the recipe....
It came from the new Martha Stewart Living. :hide:

To ensure the fruit retains its shape during baking, use plums that are almost -- but not quite -- ripe. They shouldn't be rock hard; rather, they should be soft yet slightly firm. You can use apricots, nectarines, or peaches in place of the plums.
Ingredients

Makes 2 cakes

* 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 3/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
* 1/2 cup whole milk
* 1/4 cup vegetable oil
* 1 large egg
* 9 or 10 large black plums, halved and pitted
* 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 2 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces, plus more for pans

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Butter two 9-inch round cake pans. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, combine 3/4 cup sugar, the milk, oil, and egg. Fold into flour mixture.
2. Divide batter evenly between prepared pans, and smooth tops. Arrange plums, cut sides up, over batter.
3. Combine cinnamon and remaining sugar, and sprinkle over plums. Dot with butter. Bake until tops are dark golden, plums are soft, and a toothpick inserted into center of cakes comes out clean, 30 to 35 minutes. Let cool. (Cakes are best the day you make them; leftover cake is great for breakfast the next day.)

I'm way too tired to cook right now. pb & j on whole wheat.

If I'm ambitious, I'll toast the bread. If not, meh.

I'll break open a plastic bottle of diet mountain dew to add extra class. :)

31. Veggie burgers and rib-eye steak on the grill for the carnivores and vegetarians.
Home grown corn on the cob, home grown tomatoes/peppers/shallots (and one store bought avocado) tossed with Paul Newman's Balsamic vinaigrette, home grown watermelon and cantaloupe, home made biscuits.

Store bought ice cream for dessert. I worked a full day today so anything more extensive than biscuits were out of the question.

Wouldn't they be omnivores? They do eat some things not made out of meat, right? I have never met a pure carnivore human.

39. Great food yesterday.
Barbecued pork ribs, burgers, and a thresher shark fillet all on the grill. I made some roasted seasoned potato wedges for a side.

There was so much meat!!

The thresher shark was very good. It was the first time I'd ever had shark, and I would definitely have it again. :9
