Why is my iMac downloading everything into unusable "secure download" files? |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-08-07 09:29 AM by NewJeffCT
I haven't changed any settings on my computer as far as I can tell, but I've gotten email attachments of both Word and PDF files the past few days and when I try to download them to my computer so I can open them, it is sending them to a file called "Secure Download" and then it says that I cannot open files of that type when I do try to open them? In the past, the attachments would save directly to my desktop (or wherever) as a Word or PDF file.
I even tried resetting safari completely and still got the same problem.

I've noticed the same thing with Yahoo mail on my mac... other things download just fine.
rename the file the name it's supposed to have (the filename in the message, like "photos.zip" or "story.doc") then when it asks if you want to change the file extension, say YES, and it should work fine
I hate when people send pictures to my Yahoo account because you have to go through like four steps to download them, and now this. It's easier to just forward them to my gmail account and look at the pictures in my damn web browser!

2. It can't be my yahoo mail |

because I was able to download the file with no problem through Firefox... it has to be something with Safari.

The Mac discussion board about this flaw.
Most people are saying if they use Firefox to use their Yahoo Mail it's not a problem. It seems to be something with Safari and YM.
