Happy films, but I dont care for a lot of overtly heteroexual light romantic comedies. like 'Must like Dogs'.or 'Something about Mary'.
I dont much care for Mel Gibson or Kevin Costner

Some of these may or may not be sad at points, haha, but try Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep, Buffalo 66 (Though be prepared to really hate Gallo's character for most of the film, haha), Y Tu Mama Tambien, Being John Malkovich, Ghost World.

6. mmm no, it has Karen Black in three diferent tales of supernatural evil... |
|
in one segment she plays twins, an uptight librarian and her slutty blonde sister, in another, she's brutally attacked by a six inch tall African warrior fetish doll... made for TV in the 70s. it'd truly a masterpiece of the abc movie of the week genre.

Martin Sheen was a dreamboat kidnapper. Her appetite for canned green chilies was his ultimate downfall.

|
A little slow moving, but absolutely worth it. One of the most uplifting, heartwarming films I've ever seen.

16. Here are some suggestions. |
|
Are you all right with subtitles? Some of the following are foreign language films. Many of these I've rented from Netflix
A Mighty Wind The Closet Being Julia Hi-Life Cradle Will Rock The Last of the Blonde Bombshells La Buche Walking and Talking Friends with Money Coupling (the British TV series, four seasons plus extras) I See a Dark Stranger The Return of the Secaucus 7 Eat Drink Man Woman Born Romantic Sense and Sensibility (1995) Persuasion (1995) Amelie Crossing Delancey
I've left off anything that was a murder mystery or perhaps too bittersweet for your guidelines. :-)

I don't know if you have noticed yet that once you enter something into your queue, Netflix coughs up a bunch of other titles, generally connected in some fashion. For example, if you rented Silver City, Netflix might suggest other John Sayles-directed flicks, or other movies starring Chris Cooper, or other dramas.
It's not a precise system, though. For example, I enjoy romantic comedies, and the Netflix recommendations list will come up with maybe one title for me when I click on their recommendations link.
You can also search for actors and directors, too, and get a sense of someone's DVD-recorded career.

23. We just watched something called Chronos. |
|
It was shot entirely in time lapse photography.
We live on a planet that is breathtaking in it's beauty.
It was originally an IMAX film apparently so your experience will be better if you have a wide screen and good audio equipment.
But even on our old CRT TV it was stunning.
