Can someone give me the skinny on seeing a show at a House of Blues venue?
So we just got a HOB in our town. I haven't been to the venue yet, and to be perfectly honest, my dive-bar indie-rock heart would normally turn up my nose at heading to what I hear is a pretty yuppiefied venue. BUT, a couple of my fave bands are going to be there, so I'm looking at tickets. And I have a question which hopefully the Wisdom of DU will know....

On the ticket-buying site, there's an option to buy seats in the balcony, and also for general admission on the floor. I'm not getting any younger (ha) and wouldn't mind getting a seat to sit in every now and then, but I am quite sure I'll be wanting to stand on the floor for at least some of it. If I get a balcony seat do they let you go on the floor at all, or are you stuck in your chair the whole time? (In which case I'll suck it up and wear the comfy shoes, haha.)

Thanks!

1. I do not know if it is the same
with all HOB venues from state to state. We go to the HOB
in Myrtle Beach. We never buy balcony tickets because of
if you go to the restroom or to the bar, you have someone
try to snipe your seat 99% of the time. We get the general
admissions on the floor. You can sit anywhere there is an
open chair, you can stand 2 inches from the stage. Anywhere
is OK to sit except for the stairs. If you have to go out
for a smoke, you can just wade back in, not hunting your seat
in the balcony.

I avoided going to HOB for a long time, but, too many bands
I wanted to hear are featured there.

The band/performer that made me

And they rocked the house all these years later!!!!!!!

4. I think they're GREAT venues.
One of the few franchises I love (their restaurants are fantastic, too--have dinner before the show). I've been to the HOB in New Orleans, Orlando and here in Los Angeles. Great semi-intimate setting to see a show.

And the other poster's advice about avoiding balcony seats is spot-on.

Go & have fun!
